Editorial policy

Western Daily Dispatch aims to make writing about rural landscapes accurate, transparent and useful to curious readers. We distinguish observation from interpretation and make our editorial choices visible.

Accuracy and context

We check names, descriptions and factual statements against suitable sources before publication. When a point is uncertain or open to more than one reading, we say so rather than make the landscape seem more conclusive than it is. We explain geographical terms and keep claims within the evidence available to us.

Independence and corrections

Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. We correct meaningful errors when identified and update affected wording so readers can see what changed. Readers can send corrections through the Contact page; specific details about the passage and the proposed correction help us review it.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner content is clearly identified as such and is kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. A partnership does not buy a favourable editorial conclusion. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when an image is illustrative rather than a documentary depiction, we label it clearly.

Our bearing

The landscape is a record of choices

Fields, paths and boundaries are not just scenery. Read together, they offer a way to notice how land has been used and how places connect.
